Magic Circle – Single Loop

The magic circle is a favorite way to start a crochet work in the round because it leaves no center hole, however, many people are intimidated by the technique. Once you learn how to do it, it’s quite easy.

You start by wrapping the yarn around your fingers once. Pinch the part of the circle where the yarn crosses so that you can control the circle. Insert your hook through the loop and pull up the working yarn, ch1. Continue to work stitches through the magic ring until you have the required number of stitches for your pattern. To finish, pull the yarn tail until the ring closes. Join your stitches to form the round.
